Hong Kong Global Maritime Trade

SUMMIT

Risk & Resilience in an Age of Disruption

For our client, the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), Afion Media produced the Hong

Kong Global Maritime Trade Summit in partnership with the Transport and Logistics Bureau

of the Hong Kong SAR, the Hong Kong Shipowners Association and the Hong Kong

Maritime and Port Board.

This high-level Summit convened 300 high-level delegates from 28 countries, including 13

ministerial delegations and 40+ CEOs from across the maritime and energy sectors at this

high-profile flagship event at the start of Hong Kong Maritime Week.

With full responsibility for the event from concept to execution, the Afion team worked closely

with ICS and the Hong Kong Government to research and develop a programme that

addressed the critical challenges facing maritime trade and which advanced the strategic

goals of our client and government partners.

Holding full budgetary responsibility for the event, the Afion team sourced and contracted

venues and suppliers, and secured significant levels of sponsorship revenue which ensured

the event was a resounding strategic and financial success.

This event was curated specifically to facilitate cross-sectoral dialogue between ministers,

senior government officials and senior representatives of intergovernmental institutions,

which included the UN International Maritime Organization (IMO), the World Trade

Organisation (WTO), and the European Commission.

The two-day event comprised a closed-door session on Sunday 17 November, held under

the Chatham House rule, with ministers and CEOs contributing to a lively dialogue, and a

Summit held on Monday 18 November, which brought the conversation to a wider audience

of senior industry leaders.

The presence of numerous key stakeholders operating at the highest levels of industry and

government ensured that the Hong Kong Global Maritime Trade Summit fulfilled our client’s

strategic objectives. It provided the ideal forum for maritime leaders to convene and discuss

how to navigate an increasingly unpredictable landscape for global trade.
